Phase II Lusaka City Roads - JICA
Completed
US$30 million
Lusaka Phase II Stage II city roads rehabilitation project funded by Japanese government through JICA is now complete. The contractor SHIMZU Corporation carried out rehabilitation works on Great East road (14km), Great North road (4.3km) and Machinchi road (2.3km).

Kapiri-Chisamba Roads EU funded

The EU funded road project is now complete. Rehabilitation of this road has enhanced improvement trade relations both internally and internationally by ensuring that the road is in good condition.

JICA - Chirundu Bridge
100% Complete
US$25 million
The Japanese government through JICA provided funding for the construction of Chirundu bridge. The contract was signed in November 2000 with Contractor Kajima Corporation. This project was completed in 2002. This bridge was commissioned by the President of the Republic of Zambia on 11 December 2002. The construction of this new bridge has facilitated improvement of trade relations between Zambia and her neighbouring countires by easing congestion at the Chirundu Border Post.

Monze-Zimba Road, EU Funded Project
100% Completed
US$21 million
The rehabilitation of the road is being funded by the European Union and covers a stretch of about 210km. The project commenced in Febraury 2000 and works completed in September 2002. The key trunk road is now in good condition and will result in improved internal and international trade.

Mongu-Kalabo Road

US$37 million
Upgrading of 70km of Mongu-Kalabo Road is funded by BADEA/Kuwait/OPEC Fund and work is progressing well. The contract was signed in July 2002 and work is still going on although it was envisaged that works would be complete by February 2004.

Livingstone-Sesheke Road

US$23 million
The project consisted of construction of of 210km of road funded by KfW Germany. The project is complete

Katimamulilo Bridge Construction

US$8 million
A KfW Germany funded project. The project was completed and the bridge was commissioned in May 2004.

Periodic Maintenance of Roads - World Bank Funded
95% Complete
US$70 million
Periodic maintenance of M15 Siavonga Road Turn off to Kariba Dam Gate (48.5km) was funded by World Bank under IDA credit and is 95% complete now.

Community Roads/Capacity Building /IMT/Engineering Design/ROADSIP Phase II PPF

Project funded by World Bank under IDA Credit. This includes design study of Lot 1 - Livingstone-Zimba, Kafue-Chirundu and design study of Lot 2 - Ndola-Mufulira-Mwambashi-Mokambo & Kafulafuta-Luanshya.
